England have fallen at the quarter-final stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after a controversy ridden 2-1 defeat to reigning champions France with Harry Kane missing a late penalty for the Three Lions

England are out of the World Cup after a heart-breaking defeat to reigning champions France at the Al-Bayt Stadium.

England named an unchanged side for their World Cup quarter-final clash with holders France. Les Bleus would take the lead in stunning fashion, Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni rifling home a low drive drive from 25 yards.

Southgates side were given the chance to level as Tchouameni fouled Saka inside the box. Kane stepped up against club-mate Lloris, sending him the wrong way with a penalty which saw him equal Wayne Rooneys all-time scoring record for England.

Olivier Giroud then restored Frances lead before the Three Lions were given a golden chance for an equaliser, only for Kane to sky his second penalty.

Well, England cant say they didnt get their warning as Giroud restores Frances lead. He beats Harry Maguire to Griezmanns stunning ball back into the box.

Thats probably kept England in the game!

Griezmann manages to pick out Giroud unmarked in the heart of the Three Lions penalty area and the Milan man seems sure to extend his lead at the top of the French goalscoring charts but Pickford parries.
